The Power Unit

Engine

Vanguard Briggs and Stratton 18 Hp Twin-V gasoline engine, model KDB 18/250
We have used different types of engines during the last few years. The reason why we recommend this engine is that it works on a rpm level that is well below the upper limit that is specified from the manufacturer. This ensures a long lifespan of the engine with minimum wear. The manufacturer offers a one-year world wide warranty for commercial use.

The motor and pump are mounted on a stainless steel wagon with inflatable tires. The complete unit, including downloader valve, has been marinized for saltwater use and is protected with an anti-corrosion wax.

Pressure Pump

The pump is the Italian made, Interpump, model no. W928 (General Pump T9281); a mechanical pump with crankshaft driven pistons. The pistons are coated with a layer of ceramic to withstand seawater and to reduce wear and friction. This pump is ideally suited for marine use. To ensure uninterrupted operation, we recommend the following replacement parts be kept on hand:

Spray Wand

We deliver one spray wand as standard equipment for basic cleaning requirements on your fish farm.

The Cleaning Head

The basic parts of the cleaning head are the Rotating disk with nozzles, the Centre bearing, and the poles and hoses.

Rotating Disk

This is a sandwich construction of three layers:

Layer one (front): Stainless steel front (protects against wearing from algaes, mussels, stones, etc.)
Layer two (Inside): Polyurethane foam with stainless steel tubes for water flow and to anchor the nozzles
Layer three (Back): Carbon-graphite fibre. This layer provides the stiffness and the strength for the rotating disk

You will need to replace the spray nozzles as they wear due to water flow and pressure. It is recommended that an additional set be kept on-hand in case of accidental loss when clearing a blocked nozzle.

Center Bearing

The center bearing is a rotating stainless steel unit. Inside the bearing are two roller bearings, one rotating axle and a Teflon seal. The Teflon seal should be changed after every 200 hours use. The axle should be changed once per year.

Poles

The poles are made from glass fibre with an outer dia of 32mm. The standard length is 300 cm. We supply two 300 cm. poles as standard. (ie. 6m pole total length)

Hoses

The hoses used with this equipment are a double braid pressure hose with stainless steel fittings. It is important that the nozzles remain clean. If you do not use the recommended hoses, your nozzles will become blocked from rust particles and other problems can arise. Standard with the equipment is a 20m hose. If you work a long distance from the Power Unit, it is common to connect an extra hose with a connection piece. The pressure drop from a hose length of 40m is negligible.

Suction Filter

Cylindrical filter and a changeable filtering cloth with openings of .007 mm (70 micron) opening.

The filter system includes a non-return valve and 2.5m suction hose.

It is important that only this filter is used to save the pump from excessive wear and to prevent blockage of the nozzles on the cleaning head. We recommend you keep on hand one extra filtering cloth.
